What to bring to camp

You have 4 different choices for your retreat weekend. Patterns, rulers, templates, etc. that are needed for your project can be purchased through me at camp (when you register you can indicate if you want to buy it from me) or you can purchase yourself either at your local quilt shop or online.

Choice 1 - BYOP (Bring your own project) and work in the company of others who love quilting and love being at church camp!

Choice 2 - Stack and Whack Fans (Advanced Beginner) -Choose a beautiful large-scale fabric, stack and whack identical wedges, then arrange them for an updated take on a classic quilt pattern. Your Dresden plates will look like intricate kaleidoscopes. You can also make yours scrappy and traditional! Arranging the fans in different orientations can create entirely different looks - Lore's instructions will be for this lovely fan setting. The really cool thing about this project is - no curved piecing! The plates are trimmed with bias tape and machine appliquéd onto the background fabric! Choice 3 - Tessellating Stars (Beginner) - Those of you who attended camp in 2010 probably remember Marla's fun scrappy project she was working on. Marla had so much fun that she went home and finished her quilt and then made another table runner sized. Deb was so intrigued that she made two - a little bright sample from her stash then a queen-sized for her new travel trailer. Deb then taught the class at Stitch Your Art Out and got more people excited about this fun project. You get the idea - it's contagious! Marla will teach you how to piece these easy blocks with no corners to match! No planning ahead - you have to build this design as you go. Works well with strip sets (Bali Pops, Jelly Rolls, etc) or fat-quarters and yardage from your stash. For more information on this project please contact Marla Mullinax, mbmullinax@comcast.net, 717-433-7446.

Choice 4 - Paperweight (Advanced Beginner) - You’ll combine octagonal blocks and kite-shaped backgrounds for this fun quilt that brings to mind beautiful glass paperweights. And there’s a great bonus: you'll be using the 'scraps' from the paperweight wedges to make an extra wall-hanging with a different setting. Choose fabrics with lot of texture, motion and geometric designs. Background can be light or dark, one fabric or scrappy.
