Charity Project

For the past several years we have created a 'group' quilt from blocks made by campers. The blocks have been taken home by one or more campers who then assembled them into quilts, finished them off then sent them to Conference for a silent auction to raise money for the Holy Grounds campaign. We have made some really nice quilts and raised a couple of thousand dollars for our church camps. We greatly appreciate all the efforts of those who worked on the Holy Grounds quilts. This year we'd like to try something a little different.

The Project: All People Quilts has started a project called Million Pillowcase Challenge. Read about the project here. In short, they want quilters to donate a total of 1,000,000 pillowcases to any of a number of pillowcase projects.

The Charity: One of the pillowcase charities is ConKerr Cancer. The goal of this project is to provide a bright colorful pillowcase to children in the hospital for cancer treatment. You can read more about ConKerr Cancer here.

Our Part: During camp, on Saturday after lunch, we will have a brief lesson on how to make a pillowcase. We will ask that each camper make a bright children's pillowcase on Saturday afternoon. Pillowcases will be collected at breakfast Sunday and blessed during our worship service then mailed off to ConKerr Cancer.

What we Need you to Do: Please bring fabric to camp to make a pillowcase. If you don't have anything in your stash or don't have time to shop, you could make pillowcase fabric your goal for Friday morning's shopping trip!
