Custom Cross-hatching, Continuous
Curves, Appliqué
Treatments, Background Fills -
Some quilts really benefit from some very special quilting. Cross-hatching
is a technique that works great to give texture to the background
behind appliqué. Outling the appliqué helps it
to stand out. Other background fill techniques like stippling
also help to make quilt design elements stand out. |
This Lone Star wall hanging
by Linda incorporates special treatment in the star and set in
block patterns surrounding the star.

Continuous curves along the
edges of the diamonds really emphasize the radiating nature of
the star.

Linda chose feather motifs to place
in the setting triangles and squares.

A feather pattern in
the outer border and a simple curve in the inner border complete
this wall-hanging.

This quilt is an antique made by
Terri's grandmother. Snow White and the dwarves were all attached
by hand and the quilt also contains embroidery. The quilt was done
entirely with cross-hatching and outline using So Fine thread in
white.

The cross-hatching does not cross the appliqué.
The batting is Quilters Dream Blend. |
