Custom Blocks and Borders - Some special quilts are well-suited for custom quilting which involves careful placement of a design instead of sewing it all over the quilt. These samples have been quilted with block, sashing and border motifs.

This is the first of several sampler quilts made by Barb's family. Each block is quilted with a different motif and the sashing and corner stones have a swirl pattern. The thread is a variegated from King Tut called Suez and the batting is Quilters Dream Blend.

This picture shows a close-up of the wave border and spiral corner stone. Ditch stitching frames the pink border.

Joan made this quilt for her first grandchild. The bear star blocks are each quilted with a swirling flower pattern and a matching design is used in the border. The white sashing has strips of stars that tie in the backing fabric. The corner stones each contain a daisy. The thread is Signature Cotton white and the batting is white cotton.

The backing is soft and cuddly pink Minkee which really highlights the quilting.
